REDEFINING YOURSELF 2
Text: Acts 9:10-15
By: Adeaga O. Favour

It is easy for one who has failed several times to be called a failure by the world's definition but God does not see such like that. God does not address us based who we are but who we can be and what He has created us to be. This is why He could look at a murderer like Moses and call him Israel's deliverer.

If we are to describe Jesus' disciples based on what they did after he was taken, we probably would have called them traitorous disciples but when Jesus would call them, he called them fishers of men. Any man who defines you based on what you have done is only making the biggest mistake.

Once saved, your old life is passed. You become as a new born without a past (2Cor 5:17). This is why God could look at you and say "ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people," 1 Pt 2:9. Learn to always celebrate who you are now in Christ.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY
There is no future in your past, the cross crushed it and gave you a new beginning.

PRAY:
Thank You Lord for who You have made me to be in Christ.

REDEFINING YOURSELF 1
Text: 1 Peter 2:9-10
By: Adeaga O. Favour

How do you see yourself? Quite a lot of people have allowed their sense of judgement of themselves to be controlled by the world system while in actual fact, God did not design our life to be subject to worldly opinions and perception about us but solely by His view of us.

Because of the situation he was passing through, it became so difficult for Gideon to accept heaven's definition of him - a mighty man of valour. He gave God different reasons why the definition shouldn't be until God had to reconfigure his perception. What definition do you also hold about yourself?

Our present situations do not have to define us, God's word is full of a variety of great views heaven carry about us. It does not matter what you have done wrong and how terrible they may be, if God says you are a new creature, it means your past matters no more!

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
Until you discover who you truly are in Christ, you will never live as God truly designed you to be.

PRAY:
Lord, please help me to understand who I am in You in Jesus' name.

DON'T BREAK THE HEDGE
Text: Ecclesiastes 10:8
By: Adeaga O. Favour

By redemption, every child of God, whether a baby of matured, have been given power that naturally positions them above the devil, all principalities and powers (Luke 10:29). Also, that you are born of God automatically makes you an overcomer (1Jn 5:4), and divinely secured from all attacks (Ps 91).

However, it becomes an aberration when you begin to fear or loose to what should fear or tremble at your presence. And the reason is not farfetched. Pro 28:1 says "The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion." While sin gets you afraid, righteousness emboldens you.

More so, every act of obedience secures your hedge (Job 1:1,10) while disobedience exposes you to the devil's attack. In Exo 15:26, Moses told the Israelites that by the hedge of protection around them, if they obey, none of the sicknesses and diseases that befell the Egyptians would come upon them.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
God's responsibility is to secure you but yours is to maintain the security.

PRAY:
Lord, if I have broken the hedge around me in any way, please forgive me and rebuild in Jesus' name.

SECURE YOUR FUTURE 2
Text: Proverbs 22:6
By: Adeaga O. Favour

Every parent is first the role model to their children, whatever they do determines what the children learn. You can’t be telling your children something while you are doing the opposite, they will soon discover and think pretence is part of life thereby making them to pretend as well.

Whatever you have not seen in your child is what you have not inscribed in such. The first point of learning comes from home, it is a failure on the parents’ part when they push this responsibility to the child’s teacher in school or elsewhere.

Ps 32:8 says “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Training your children is about instructing, teaching and guiding them in the way to go. This means after you have told them what to do, you watch them do it.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
Paying the price today is securing a rest for yourself tomorrow.

PRAY:
Father, let my children know and walk in Your ways all their days in Jesus’ name.

SECURE YOUR FUTURE
Text: Genesis 18:17-19
By: Adeaga O. Favour

What you do with each day God gives you determines what becomes of your destiny eventually. In the same vein, what you do or fail to do over your child(ren) has an eternal consequence on such child. Pro 22:6 says "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Your children are your future, what you do or fail to do, the direction you show or fail to show them determines what their destination will look like. Not taking responsibility over them now is like opening your destiny for the robber to handle as he wishes.

Every single training you give your children is a major investment into their future. The societal challenges we face today is a result of the failure of parents to train their children yesterday. If any parent will ever enjoy rest tomorrow, such must endure the stress of child training today.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
What will become of any nation tomorrow is determined by what every parent does with his/her child(ren) today.

PRAY:
Father, please help me not to fail in my responsibility over my children in Jesus' name.

LOOK WARM OR LUKEWARM?
Text: Revelation 3:1-5-16
By: Adeaga O. Favour

Spirituality cannot be faked, it is either you are in totally or out, having a leg in and the other out is not permitted in the kingdom. While addressing the Laodicean Church, Jesus said they were "neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot," Rev 3:15. You see, there is nothing hidden about us to God.

There is no glory in lukewarmness neither is there any joy in looking or appearing warm when you have long lost your heat, heaven's categorisation method is either one is cold or hot. And if I may ask, where do you belong? What is your spiritual temperature like?

Jesus is not coming for a lukewarm church, he is also not coming for a set of believers who claim to be in the Kingdom but have their gaze and desire fixed on worldly things. The mandate is "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God," Col 3:1.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
God takes no pleasure in warm Christians.

PRAY:
Father, give me oil in my lamp and cause me to burn for you in Jesus' name.

OUR DAILY REFLECTION: 17-02-2017

VISITING?
Text: Psalm 23:6
By: Adeaga O. Favour

How often does God desire you to be with Him but all you do is to dash in and rush out? A lot of us have become so busy with earthly things that heavenly things are becoming less important to us, our busy schedules are gradually taking our focus off kingdom activities.

After all his ups and downs and his struggle to get things done, God encountered Jacob and told him "Arise, go up to Beth-el, and dwell there," Gen 35:1. If only we know that many of the things we run after can cheaply be gotten in God's presence, we probably would have learned to dwell more with God.

Do you only visit Bethel or you dwell there? Ps 91:1 tells us only those who dwell in God's secret place will abide under His shadow. Learning to dwell in Bethel guarantees protection in time of trouble and divine lifting (Ps 27:4-6), among other things.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY
Are you a dweller or only a visitor in God's presence?

ACTION:
Review your daily activities and prayerfully ask God to help you dwell in His presence always.

DIVINE EXCHANGE
Text: 2 Corinthians 5:19-21
By: Adeaga O. Favour

In the movie, life for life, there was a twin who gave his all to God, but his brother was the opposite. While the committed brother would preach to his twin, the twin in return would molest him until a day he went for a night party, got drunk and eventually killed with blood stains on his cloth.

The police went after him and when he got home, he managed to explain to his brother and he, who already knew if his brother died would go to hell, had to exchange his clean dress for the brother's stained cloth so that when the policemen came, he was taken for the murderer. At the court ruling, he was sentenced to death.

This paints the exact picture of what Christ came to do for you and me, he knew if we die in our sins we would perish and so, he took our place, paid the price that we may live. The ransome has been paid but the gift of salvation has to be received.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
Christ took your place in death so you can live and enjoy abundant life.

PRAY:
Thank you Jesus for the price you paid for me, I receive eternal life afresh in your name.

GOD OR GOLD? 2
Text: Matthew 6:33
By: Adeaga O. Favour

God or gold, what’s more important to you? As much as anyone will jump on the option of picking God, it’s important to pause and conduct a priority test on ourselves. It is possible we confess and sing God songs always while within, we value the gold more than God.

Silver and gold belongs to God but when we become more interested in the material things more than God, then there’s problem. Divide your time each day into 4, how many hours go to God, your work, family and leisure? Whatever takes most of your time determines what’s most important to you.

The secret to having gold laid up like dust is not in much labour or the time invested in pursuing material things but in seeking God and His kingdom (Matt 6:33). When you learn to go for God, the gold will come for you.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
When you learn to go for God, the gold will come for you.

PRAY:
Father, please take the first position in my life from today in Jesus’ name

OUR DAILY REFLECTION: 14-02-2107

GOD OR GOLD? 1
Text: Matthew 6:33
By: Adeaga O. Favour

Everyone wants the best. No one will see what is good and go for the bad. Even God designed us for the best and He’s also got good thoughts for us (Jere 29:11), and there’s also provision for the actualisation of our expectations from His agenda (Pro 23:18).

But then, what is your expectation tilted towards? We are not designed to be slaves to material, perishable things and also, God did not create us because of what we will get from Him but what we will do for Him; He created us to worship and show forth His praise (Isa 4:21).

What is your priority, God or gold? Jesus warned in Matt 6:24 that “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” When your attention is divided, your service to God becomes affected.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
God didn’t create you because of what you will get from Him but what you will do for Him.

PRAY:
Father, whatever is taking my attention from You, I give them up in Jesus’ name.

ABIDE
Text: John 15:1-5
By: Adeaga O. Favour

No matter how fruitful a branch can be, once detached from the tree, it withers by time. Also, the relevance a branch enjoys is rooted in its continuous attachment to the tree. Every one of us is only productive to the level we are connected to Jesus.

Our life is not programmed to function independent of God, no and if it does, it will only malfunction. Jesus said "As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me," Jn 15:4

God's joker card for a productive life is simple - abide. Your commitment to remaining attached to the vine is what guarantees a continual flow of divine resources for your life. Show me a flourishing life and I will show you a life rooted in Christ.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
How rooted you are determines how productive you will be.

PRAY:
I cut off today whatever may want to cut me off from the Vine in Jesus' name.

STRENGTH FOR THE WEAK
Text: Joel 3:10
By: Adeaga O. Favour

In Christ alone is our completeness guaranteed. He alone can look at a feeble thing and turn it into a mighty host, and out of a foolish thing command wisdom. By leaning on him, strength can be made available for all our weaknesses (Phil 4:13).

Weakness can manifest in various forms including financially, spiritually, physically and emotionally and from today's text, we are told something to do - speak our way into strength. "But how?" You may say. Confess God's strength and you have it manifest in your life.

No matter your current level, out of your plowshare can come a sword and out of your pruninghook, a spear can emerge. Like Samson said, sweetness can come out of your strong (Jdg 14:14), and based on 2 Cor 12:10, you can also declare that when you are weak, then you are strong.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
God's strength is available to help overcome the days of weaknesses.

PRAY:
I receive God's strength for all my weaknesses in Jesus' name.

CURE FOR A FAULTY FOUNDATION
Text: Psalm 11:3
By: Adeaga O. Favour

No matter how faulty a foundation is, there is a cure in Jesus. Irrespective of how bad things may be, when you come to Jesus, he is able to mend it. Jere 18:4 says "And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it."

Jesus is able to rework whatever is marred so that it radiates a new order of glory. Imagine Abraham from a foundation of idolatry, for example, God called him out, worked on him and he became the father of faith so that the saviour of the world came through him.

The good news is God says Isa 54:11 that "O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires." Wow! As God works on you, He promises to do it on a bigger and better level, so, if you call upon Him today for help, be sure He'll.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
If the foundation be destroyed, the righteous can cry to God.

PRAY:
Father, make my foundation anew.

OUR DAILY REFLECTION: 08-02-2017

THE FOUNDATION
Text: Psalm 11:3
By: Adeaga O. Favour

The most vital part of any structure is the foundation, yet it is not seen once the building is raised. The structure to be erected determines the kind of foundation to be laid, and any fault in the foundation automatically alters or affects the building.

Every life as a structure is built on a foundation, the kind of foundation each has affects the outcome of each life. For example, as no one can build a storey building on a bungalow foundation, no matter how a man tries, he can't produce result beyond the dictates of his foundation.

What is in your foundation, what foundation does your life operates on? The foundation the forefathers of some people laid is the cause of their predicament (Lam 5:7) and until it is corrected, nothing good will ever emerge from such family lineage.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
A faulty foundation will produce a faulty destiny.

PRAY:
Father, every limitation in my foundation, please destroy it. Work on my foundation and set me free.

 DIVINE STRENGTH
Text: Psalm 33:16-19
By: Adeaga O. Favour

A weak man is limited in his activity compared to a strong person who has the tendency of greater productivity. But then, how would you define a weak or strong man? The weak, by man's standard, is one limited by strength while the strong person is the opposite.

But Biblically, the strong man is one who, though physically weak, has learned to lean on God's ability while the weak man is the physically strong who ends up exhausting strength after much labour. Isa 40:30 tells us the youth known for strength faint eventually while Phil 4:13 says through strength from Christ, one can do all things.

The Psalmist understood this principle that he said "There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength," Ps 33:16. Top connections and great strength do not guarantee success, total dependence on God is the key to a lasting relevance.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
Every human is limited, only God remains unlimited.

PRAY:
Lord, I receive grace for an absolute dependence on You in Jesus' name.

MAKING THE WORD WORK 2
Text: Luke 5:4-6
By: Adeaga O. Favour

What you believe in is what works for you, so, until you learn to believe God's word, it doesn't work. From today's reading, another important thing that can make God's word to work is obedience. Peter had the option to either launch his net again after several attempts or refrain from doing so.

All of God's blessings are accessible on the platform of obedience. Peter obeyed the instruction and he got a net breaking result. See, anytime you disobey, you deny yourself access to the provisions imbued in the instruction. A simple act of obedience can terminate a long night of fruitless effort. Obedience positions you for the promised blessing.

The proof of an obedient life is in the corresponding action taken. Peter said "Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I WILL LET DOWN THE NET," Luke 5:5. God's word is not just for recitation sake but to be acted upon.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
To get the wonders of God's word, do whatever it says!

PRAY:
Lord, baptise me with the Spirit of obedience.

OUR DAILY REFLECTION: 05-02-2017

MAKING THE WORD WORK
Text: Luke 5:4-6
By: Adeaga O. Favour

God's word operates like an orange, if you don't suck or squeeze out the juice, you don't get the best of it. Heb 4:2 says "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it."

Faith activates God's word to work in whatever situation it is administered. Little wonder Mark 9:23 tells us that to anyone who believes, all things are possible. If the devil can make you doubt God's word, then he can make you miss out in God's move through His word.

All that the word has for you are delivered on the platform of faith. For example, after their encounter with the word made flesh, the blind men got their healing because of their faith (Matt 9:29-30). When you lay hold on the word, dare to believe and the proof shall be visible for all to see.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
The level to which we believe God's word is the level to which it works for us.

PRAY:
Lord, please deliver me from unbelief and grant me the Spirit of faith.

OUR DAILY REFLECTION: 04-02-2017

WHEN GOD SPEAKS
Text: Psalm 107:20
By: Adeaga O. Favour

God does not speak for the fun of it, whenever He speaks, there is always a purpose in mind. As rain does not fall without achieving a result, so God's word does not go forth without accomplishing the purpose for which it was sent (Isa 55:10-11).

After Peter had toiled all night and caught nothing, God's word came forth, terminated his fruitless effort and delivered a net breaking miracle unto him (Luke 5:4-6) and after much waiting, Sarah's 25 years barrenness was terminated (Gen 21:1-2).

At His word, the formless, empty earth got shapened, filled with precious things and illuminated (Gen 1:1-3). God's word can terminate confusion and give direction, bring deliverance and settle every area you desire an intervention. God's word will locate and produce result in your life henceforth in Jesus' name.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
God's word delivers exactly as God would have done if He were physically present.

PRAY:
Father, speak a word into my life in Jesus' name.

OUR DAILY REFLECTION: 03-02-2017

GOD ALSO HAS TIME
Text: Galatians 4:1-5
By: Adeaga O. Favour

If you were to be Abraham and you had to wait that long before God eventually answered your prayer, would you have said He came late? God does not come late, He is always working out things in the interest of His children.

Take for an instance, when you put your money in fixed deposit account, you don't have access to it until the time fixed is matured or ripe. As much as it is good to set specific time for answers, we must also understand that God's timing is different from ours.

Rom 8:28 says "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Never let the devil deceive or discourage you that God refused to answer your prayer, it may only be that the time is not ripe yet.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
God does things only that we give deadlines ahead of His own time.

PRAY:
Father, help me to learn to wait for Your timing for my life in Jesus' name.

OUR DAILY REFLECTION: 01-02-2017

MEETING THE GOD BETHEL 3
Text: Genesis 35:1-2
By: Adeaga O. Favour

In the last two posts, we have seen that encountering the God of Bethel is not automatic, there are specific demands that must be met which are putting away the gods (whatever stands between us and the true God) and becoming clean which has to do with holiness.

More so, another critical instruction Jacob gave his household was to change their garment. Dear, what are putting on? Our dress speaks about who we are. Little wonder, before the father could accept the prodigal son back as his child, they had to change his garment (Luke 15:22).

Are you not clothed with gossip, malice, anger, fighting, covetousness and so on? Job confidently said in Job 29:14 that "I put on righteousness, and it clothed me," and Ps 132:9 also says "Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness." What you put on can attract or repel the God of Bethel from meeting you.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY:
The way you are dressed determines the way heaven will address you.

PRAY:
Father, whatever is denying me of Your presence, I put them off now in Jesus' name.
